When I worked at an administrative job, I remember occasionally checking on Facebook or my personal email and, of course at that moment would be when my boss would walk in the room! I was so embarrassed!! I was being paid good money and I didn’t want him to think I was wasting their time.
Now, we are our own bosses. We could essentially do whatever we want during our work hours. We can check Facebook when we want. Have you ever gone onto Facebook to make a post for your business, but next thing you know… 4 videos later and a never ending scroll of updated Facebook statuses… and I finally remember to make the post I originally came on there to do!
I lost that hour. That was 1 hour I could have been knocking things off my list or even better, spending one on one time with my kids that I claim I don’t have enough time for some days. Maybe you don’t have kids, but you really wanted to make your health a priority, but you just don’t have enough time. Our time is precious!!!
Are you on your phone checking emails when you are at the park with your kids? Are you easily distracted by new email notifications when you are trying to write a blog post? Facebook is a tough one because it is a valuable tool for our businesses. Same with email. But take a hard look at what is distracting you from achieving your goals or focusing on your priorities. Write them down. Next, write down what you are going to do about it!
What is your distraction?
What are you going to do about it to be purposeful with your time?
